Kid’s Day has returned in full form this year. Kids and parents alike can find the event in Central Park on Friday, July 2 beginning at 10 AM. Registration for

Friday, July 2 beginning at 10 AM. Registration for the popular Kid’s Parade will begin at 10 AM near the
bandshell in Central Park; the parade will start promptly at 10:30 AM. Kids are encouraged to decorate
their bikes, scooters, wagons, and wear fun patriotic clothing. Characters Hamburglar and Birdie from
McDonald’s and Bennie and Nicolete from First Citizens Bank along with this year’s Little Miss and
Mister will lead kids on around Central Park and back to Dean Jeweler’s before the rest of the day’s
Immediately after the parade, McDonald’s will be in the park with hamburger, chips, and a drink for just
$2 for both kids and adults. Grab a shady spot in the park to eat your lunch while your family enjoys
dancing music provided by DJ Tad Barry.
The first 500 youngsters who register will receive a special goody bag full of fun activities and gifts;
additionally, they’ll be entered to win one of 22 prizes supplied by sponsors First Citizens Bank and
Soifer Family McDonald’s. After the parade, Central Park will be filled with completely free activities for
kids aged 12 and under. The Bridge Church is bringing their ever-popular Barrel Train Cars, First Citizens
Bank will provide a prize fishing pool for kids; Bethany Alliance Church is bringing their 9-square game;
Soifer Family McDonald’s has a sandcastle building station and obstacle course built for attendees. CUSB
has sponsored a balloon artist for kids to enjoy, and Fidelity Bank and Trust will be announcing their
Little Miss and Mister winners. Those hoping to enter are welcome to pick up a candidacy form at the
Charles City Chamber of Commerce or local Fidelity Bank branch across from Kwik Star on Gilbert St
before the entry deadline of June 28.
Central Park’s portion of Kid’s Day will wind down at 12 PM, but don’t worry- there’s lot more to do
around town with our great community partners.
The afternoon fun continues with Kid’s Bowling for $2.50 per game at the Comet Bowl from 10-2, Mini
Golf at Bayou Bend for $2 from 1-3 PM, and a free swim at Lion’s Field Pool from 3-5 PM. Please email
