Spring Cleanup in Charles City Begins Thursday

Spring Cleanup in Charles City begins this Thursday with a number of changes from previous years.

City Administrator Steve Diers says this year’s campaign switches to a dropoff event, but also offers an extended time frame to take your items to the Shaw Avenue dumpsite, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day April 28th through May 7th. Diers says each household can dispose of one truckload of unwanted items.

Diers says if you don’t have the means to take your items to the dumpsite, there is help available.

Diers says those needing help can contact City Hall to get on the list. He adds that Jendro Sanitation can also come pick up your items, but there is a cost involved.

Also new this year, residents can also dispose of up to four automotive tires. You must also bring your water bill or another piece of mail that has your city address on it with you to the dumpsite.
