Charles City Fire Department to Test Agility of Potential Firefighters Saturday

The Charles City Fire Department is inviting potential volunteer firefighters to test their abilities this weekend.

Chief Eric Whipple says they have several positions to fill and the first steps to join the department come during agility testing this Saturday at the fire station starting at 10 a.m.

Whipple adds that endurance will also be put to the test.

Whipple says after the physical testing, potential firefighters will meet with members of the department’s leadership team for a brief interview.

Those interested must be 18 years of age, a US citizen, reside within Charles City or St. Charles Township, and have a current valid driver’s license. Comfortable, athletic-type attire and tennis shoes are recommended for the agility testing.

The “open tryouts” were originally scheduled for April 2nd, but were postponed due to inclement weather.

Contact Charles City Fire and Rescue for more information.
