Family Week for Schools Across Iowa

It’s “Family Week” for schools across Iowa.

Initially termed “dead week,” New Hampton Schools Superintendent Jay Jurrens explains what it means, especially for athletes, July 24th to July 31st.

“Family Week” was first introduced in the 2020-21 school year and applies to all school activities governed by the Unified Activity Federation, which includes the Iowa High School Athletic Association, Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union, Iowa High School Music Association, and Iowa High School Speech Association.

The non-contact week for students also applies to camps, clinics, workouts, strength and conditioning, lessons, and meetings.
