Mason City Woman Accused of Financial Elder Abuse

A Mason City woman has been charged with abusing dependent adults financially for over three years.

The Mason City Police Department arrested 24-year-old Katelyn Roberts Thursday after an investigation determined she had taken advantage of a combined 10 dependent adults she was employed to take care of at One Vision in Mason City.

Court records accuse Roberts of making inappropriate purchases coupled with obtaining cash for her own personal use between January of 2019 and May of this year.

Authorities say charges totaled over $3,000 and Roberts has been charged with dependent adult abuse by financial exploitation, a Class D felony.
