Staffing Makeup of New Public Ambulance in Chickasaw County Gets Clarity

Staffing of the new public ambulance service in Chickasaw County gained some clarity Thursday afternoon.

During a joint meeting between the Board of Supervisors and the Ambulance Advisory Committee, it was determined the newly-formed Chickasaw County EMS would begin with a director and five, full-time employees when operations start on January 1st.

Josh Schuchhardt with the advisory committee said preliminary figures would call for a director’s compensation package of about $75,000 including benefits. The other EMS staff members would include a combination of EMTs and paramedics.

Supervisors approved a tentative wage scale factoring in qualifications and experience with the new county-run ambulance and staff to be housed in the Community Services Building in New Hampton.

Supervisor Chair Matt Kuhn said there are three applicants for EMS director and all three would be available for interviews on Monday, which Supervisors went into closed sessions to conduct the interviews.
