Floyd County Supervisor Candidates Participate in Forum

Candidates vying for seats on the Floyd County Board of Supervisors appeared at a public forum Wednesday night in Charles City.

The question-and-answer session at the Charles City Senior Center was hosted by the Charles City Area Chamber of Commerce and the American Association of University Women (AAUW).

Candidates running for the new Supervisor District 1 seat include Julius Bryant, Doug Kamm and Mark Kuhn.

Kamm is the only current Supervisor seeking re-election.

Kuhn, a former Supervisor and state legislator, discussed some of those issues in his opening statements.

The 44-year-old Bryant is seeking his first political office, but isn’t new to the political process..

Dennis Kiefer and Joshua Mack are vying for Floyd County District 2 Supervisor.

Mack touted his almost two decades of related experience.

Keifer said he’s in the race for financial reasons.

Jim Lundberg, Jayson Ryner and Jeff Hawbaker are running for the District 3 Supervisor seat, but only Lundberg was able to attend Wednesday’s forum.

Questions for the candidates came from the public and covered topics including carbon pipelines, ARPA spending, communication with constituents, what candidates liked and disliked about Floyd County, and whether Iowa should keep 99 counties.

The forum was recorded for playback on the Charles City Public Access Network (Mediacom Channel 4 or online at www.charlescitypan.com).

You’ll have another chance to hear from the candidates during KCHA’s Floyd County Candidates Forum on Wednesday night, October 26th. Questions for the candidates can be submitted through kchanews.com
