Iowa House, Senate Candidates Make Their Pitches in Charles City

Candidates for new Iowa House District 58 and Iowa Senate District 29 races met in a candidate forum Thursday night in Charles City.

The question and answer session at the Charles City Senior Center was hosted by the Charles City Area Chamber of Commerce and the American Association of University Women (AAUW).

The new Iowa House District 58 includes all of Chickasaw County, the majority of Floyd County including Charles City, and eastern two-thirds of Bremer County east of, but not including Waverly.

Charley Thomson of Charles City is the Republican candidate.

Democrat Dene Lundberg, also of Charles City, said she’s knocked on a lot of doors and talked with many voters.

The new Senate District 29 will include the majority of Floyd County, plus all of Chickasaw, Butler and Bremer counties.

Democrat Jenn Wulff of Waverly said her passion to help people has come from her own challenges.

Republican Sandy Salmon, also of Waverly, said she’s running because she feels blessed to live in Iowa and America.

The forums was recorded for playback on the Charles City Public Access Network (Mediacom Channel 4 or online at www.charlescitypan.com).
