Dennis Adams, 82, Rockford

Dennis Adams, 82, of Rockford, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

According to his wishes, cremation will take place and a private family graveside service at Riverside Cemetery in Rockford, Iowa will be held at a later date.

Dennis Michael Adams was born February 2, 1941. He was adopted at the age of six months by William “Bill” and Anna (Pekarek) Adams. He grew up in Rockford and graduated in 1959. Dennis signed up for the Air Force and was stationed in England, Philippines, and 12 months in Vietnam. After six years, he was honorably discharged in 1965. Dennis came back to Rockford and soon started working as the Postmaster in Rockford where he stayed for 30 years.

Dennis married Susan Nordman in 1969 and their union was blessed with two sons: Mike of Fort Dodge and Joe of Nora Springs. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, woodworking and going to casinos. His trips to Alaska and the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. meant a lot to him.

Living family members include his wife; two sons; sister, Ruth Gilbert of Nora Springs; nephew, Dean; and brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Brenda Nordman of Charles City.

Dennis was preceded in death by his mom and dad along with his parents-in-law, Warren and Dorothy Nordman

He lives in Charles City with his endlessly patient wife Vicki and their kids, Brynlee and Jaxon, who have already perfected the art of the eye‑roll every time Dad cracks another “dad joke.”
