City of New Hampton Looks to Redirect LOSST Revenue

The City of New Hampton is asking its citizens to approve redirecting revenue generated by its Local Option Sales and Service Tax (LOSST) to help pay for the City’s portion of a public ambulance service in Chickasaw County.

That’s Mayor Bobby Schwickerath, who says the City will be distributing more information to voters in advance of the measure appearing on the November 8th ballot.

New Hampton’s contribution to operating funds for the ambulance service is estimated to be about $356,000 a year for five years.

Schwickerath says the City currently generates about $500,000 a year with the one-cent LOSST.
