Chickasaw County Hopes Third Time a Charm to Hire EMS Director

Last week, an individual identified as “Candidate #1” had accepted an offer to become director of Chickasaw County’s new public ambulance service.

At Monday’s (10.17) Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors meeting, Board Chair Matt Kuhn announced that person has since rescinded their acceptance due to personal issues not related to the position or the County. Prior to the offer to Candidate #1, the post was offered to Candidate #3, who declined.

After two thwarted attempts to land a full-time director, the Board went into a closed session Monday before returning with an offer to Candidate #2 in an adjusted role.

The Board approved the motion by Supervisor Jason Byrne, with a target starting date of October 31st, pending a successful background check.

The identity of the candidates has not been revealed to this point, but Supervisor Steven Breitbach had to remove himself from the hiring process because he is related to one of the candidates.

In addition to the director, the new Chickasaw County EMS department will employ five full-time ambulance positions. Deadline for applications is 4 p.m. Friday, October 28th, with hopes of beginning interviews in early November.
