One Week Left to Return, Vote Absentee Ballots

Voters now have one week left to return their absentee ballots.

Absentee ballots must be returned to your county auditor’s office by 8 p.m. election day, Tuesday, November 8th. Ballots received after that will not be valid.

As of Friday, Floyd County Auditor Gloria Carr said her office was approaching 1,300 requests for absentee ballots both in-person and/or by mail. Of those, just over 900 ballots had been returned.

Elections Officer Laura Wickham said the Chickasaw County Auditor’s office had almost 1,400 absentee ballot requests as of last Wednesday, with about 800 ballots returned.

The last day county auditors could mail out absentee ballots was Monday, October 24th. Absentee ballots can now only be cast in their county auditor’s office, which can be done through next Monday, November 7th.

Several county auditor’s offices will offer extended hours, including this Saturday, for in-person absentee voting. Check with your County Auditor for more information.

All voting on Election Day must be done in-person at your assigned precinct.
