Domestic Abuse Can Take Various Forms
October was Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Charles City Police Chief Hugh Anderson says abuse can take various forms.
Anderson says before an arrest is made during a domestic situation, law enforcement must determine who appears to be at fault.
Anderson says domestic abuse or violence calls can be some of the most dangerous for officers because of the emotions involved.
He also notes that emotion can also make it extremely hard for a person to leave an abusive situation.
Anderson encourages anyone who feels they’re a victim of domestic violence or abuse to reach out to the police department and/or the Floyd County Attorney’s office and they can put you in touch with a crisis intervention specialist.
