Floyd County EMS Advisory Council Back on Track

A week after personality clashes threatened to derail the Floyd County EMS Advisory Council, all appears to be back on track.

In their February 5th meeting, the Floyd County Board of Supervisors discussed resignations from the council by key members, most notably its chair, Charles City Councilman Patrick Lumley, plus Dawn Staudt of AMR Ambulance, due largely to disruptions at recent EMS meetings.

During their meeting Monday (02.12), Supervisors sought to rectify the issues.

That’s Supervisors chair Mark Kuhn, who also challenged whoever is on the EMS Advisory Council to follow through with the task at hand.

The Advisory Council, working in concert with the Ambulance Commission, will make recommendations to Supervisors on the parameters of an EMS tax levy to raise money for providers of emergency medical services in the County and, possibly, a County-run ambulance service.

Lumley, who told Supervisors he is willing to come back, acknowledged that it’s going to take a collaborative effort between voting and non-voting members.

Supervisors voted unanimously to have Lumley and Staudt rejoin the EMS council, which now must decide how soon the tax levy could be ready to put before Floyd County voters, with September r3rd being the earliest possible date.
