New Hampton’s Frerichs to Step Down as AD

New Hampton High School is in the market for a new activities director.

During Monday night’s School Board meeting, it was announced that Scott Frerichs would step down as AD, pending the hiring of a suitable replacement.

While he’s shedding the AD title, Frerichs says he will go back into the classroom full-time and continue as the Chickasaws head football coach, a position he’s held for 31 years.

Frerichs notes that, over the last four years, with teaching responsibilities in the morning, working as the AD in the afternoon, and covering all home events when he was not coaching football, he found that he had spread himself too thin. He adds that each of those jobs requires more time than he is able to give under the current circumstances.

Frerichs says he’s been considering stepping aside as AD for a while.

School Superintendent Jay Jurrens says they will look internally to find Frerichs’ replacement first before advertising for someone outside the school district. The new AD will start on July 1st.
