Soil Health and Planter Setup Workshop Thursday (03.07) in Floyd County

About 100 farmers are expected to attend the Soil Health and Planter Setup Workshop from 9:30 am to 3:15 pm  Thursday (03.07) on the Floyd County Fairgrounds.

Douglas Johnson, Charles City Watershed Project Coordinator, says  companies with products, equipment, and services for establishing cover crops and no-till crop production will be exhibiting at the event. The featured presentation on “Systems Approach to No-till and Soil Health” with Paul Jasa, extension engineer with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, starts at 10 am.

Other topics include cover crop agronomics, planting green, planter setup and modifications for no-till, grazing cover crops, precision planting and cover crop seeding methods. The program also includes breakout sessions and a free lunch.

The event is sponsored by the Soil and Water Conservation Districts of Floyd, Chickasaw, Mitchell and Howard counties, plus Floyd and Howard County Farm Bureaus, Sustainable Iowa Land Trust, and the Iowa Soybean and Iowa Corn Growers Associations.

Registration begins at 8:30 am.
