Bond Set at $1 Million for Northeast Iowa Man Accused of Killing Wife

After pleading not guilty earlier this week, bail has been set at $1 million cash-only for a northeast Iowa man accused of killing his wife.

37-year-old Brandon Kasemeier is facing a first-degree murder charge in the death of his estranged wife, Jami Kasemeier,  who was found deceased at her home in Waukon the morning of January 22nd.

According to court documents, Waukon Police conducted a welfare check and discovered Jami dead with “extensive injuries to her face.” An empty handgun case and several fired .22 caliber cartridge casings were also allegedly found in the home.

It’s believed she was killed on January 21st, the last day family members say they heard from Jami. On January 23rd, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office arrested Brandon Kasemeier in Loveland, Colorado, and found a .22 (caliber) revolver in his car, believed to be the murder weapon.

Monday (03.11), Kasemeier entered a not guilty plea and demanded a speedy trial, which is now set for May 15th in Allamakee County District Court.

He was initially being held without bond in the Allamakee County Jail, but following a bond review hearing this week, bail has been set at $1 million cash-only bond.
