Charles City Fire Chief Encourages Prevention and Pancakes

“Fire Won’t Wait, Plan Your Escape” is the theme for this year’s National Fire Prevention Week, which also marks its 100th anniversary.

Charles City Fire Chief Eric Whipple says even if your household doesn’t practice your escape plan, at the very least, you should discuss a plan with the whole family.

Whipple recommends practicing your fire escape plan at least twice a year.

This Sunday, (10.16) Charles City Fire Rescue will host their once-a-year, all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast, which Whipple says free will donations received for the meal will help the department purchase additional wildland fire turnout gear.

Whipple says a menu of pancakes, ham, coffee, juice or milk will be served at the Charles City Fire Station from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. this Sunday.
