Floyd County Essential EMS Resolution Town Halls Winding Down

Efforts to educate voters on a resolution to declare emergency medical services (EMS) as essential in Floyd County continue with a series of town hall meetings.

The EMS Advisory Council has been hosting Q & A sessions throughout the County in advance of the measure being voted on November 8th.

That’s Supervisor Roy Schwickerath, who adds that passage of the essential EMS resolution would allow the County to assess a tax levy using a combination of property tax and income surcharge to raise almost $556,000 a year for 10 years. Money would be distributed to ambulances and first responders who provide service in the County.

Still, Schwickerath notes that the revenues generated won’t cover all of their costs.

An EMS town hall was held Wednesday night at the Nashua Fire Station. The EMS Advisory Council will also make a presentation Friday at noon to the Charles City Lions Club at the Floyd County Museum.
