Wind Turbines to be Erected Soon for Chickasaw County Wind Energy Center

MidAmerican Energy now owns the Chickasaw County Wind Energy Center.

The project, to install 66 wind turbines across northern sections of Chickasaw County, has been acquired from Chicago-based Invenergy. MidAmerican Development Project Director Jared Noack says Invenergy will continue to be involved with construction.

Noack adds that the timeline for construction has not changed with the new ownership.

Noack says erection of the wind turbines themselves is expected to start within the next month.

The company has already moved in a handful of large cranes in anticipation of assembly of the wind turbines.

MidAmerican is Iowa’s largest public utility and the state’s largest owner of wind turbines, including 50 wind turbines in Floyd County on 16 acres south of Charles City.
