strong wind gusts persisting into Wednesday morning. Wind gusts over
50 mph are expected. Much of the area has 6 inches or more of snow
on the ground. While there may be an initial crust on the top layer

drifting of snow. Near white-out and blizzard conditions may occur.

* WHAT...Blizzard conditions possible. Light snow and snow showers
are possible. Winds gusts over 50 mph are expected.

* WHERE...Portions of central, north central, northeast, northwest,
and west central Iowa.

* IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will
likely become slick and hazardous. Whiteout conditions are

impossible and life-threatening. The hazardous conditions could
impact the Wednesday morning commute. Gusty winds could bring down
tree branches.

Turkey Drop

Sat. Nov. 22nd 2025

Perry Novak Electric
1207 S. Grand Ave
Charles City, Iowa

KCHA’s Turkey Drop is happening Saturday, November 22nd at Perry Novak Electric in Charles City, with a big push this year to support the Charles City Food Pantry.

Adults must bring at least two non-perishable food items to register.

The first 100 adults who do so will be entered into the event. It’s one registered adult per household, and you must be 21 or older to participate. Families can help retrieve that household’s turkey once the drop begins, but only the registered adult is eligible to win.

Registration opens at 9:00am, and you must be registered by 10:00am to take part.

The turkey drop begins right at 10:00am.

All donated food will go directly to the Charles City Food Pantry, and anyone able to bring extra is encouraged to do so.

How the Prizes Work

Each turkey will have a number. During the prize round, a prize will be selected at random, and then a numbered ball will be drawn. Whoever holds the turkey matching that number wins the prize that was drawn. Some turkeys will win, and some won’t — it’s all part of the fun.

Sponsors

This year’s Turkey Drop is supported by Edward Jones – Jeremy Heyer, Charles City Electronics, Schueth ACE Hardware, Butler County REC, Comet Bowl, Dave’s Restaurant, Charles City Hy-Vee, Dairy Queen, Appliance Plus, Otto’s Oasis, and Regional Health Services of Howard County.

Prizes

A range of local prizes will be available, including gift cards from Schueth ACE Hardware, Butler County REC, Comet Bowl, Dave’s Restaurant, Charles City Hy-Vee, Dairy Queen, and Otto’s Oasis. All prizes are tied to the numbered-turkey drawing system — whatever number you end up with determines what you take home.

Grand Prize

One lucky participant will win the 65” big-screen TV.
