New Hampton to Test New Outdoor Warning Siren Monday

The City of New Hampton has upgraded one of their Outdoor Warning Sirens and a test activation will be conducted next week. Â
Chickasaw County Emergency Management Director Jeff Bernatz notes that the normal testing season of sirens is the first Wednesday of the month from March through October. A special test of the new siren in New Hampton, and only in New Hampton, is scheduled for 11 am this Monday (November 6th), weather permitting. Â
In May, Mayor Bobby Schwickerath described how a test of the old siren atop City Hall showed it was time for a replacement.
Schwickerath says Brian Quirk with New Hampton Municipal Light has installed the new siren, at a cost of about $25,000, on its own pole at City Hall and is ready for testing on Monday.
There are also tornado sirens located near the west and east ends of the city.
