Installation of Speed Cameras in Charles City Moving Slow

The wheels continue to turn to bring speed cameras to Charles City, but installation of the devices has been slow in coming.

Police Chief Hugh Anderson says the speed camera company has been held up at the State level.

Anderson says speed cameras will be placed at the Charley Western Trail crossings of major highways in City limits, plus one on Gilbert Street.

He says they’re still confident the devices can be installed in time for activation in January. When they are put into service, speed violators will get warnings for starters.

Earlier this week, the City Council approved the second reading of the speed camera ordinance with a third and final reading remaining to make their use official.
