BREAKING: Northeast Iowa Authorities Apprehend Wanted Suspect

Authorities in northeast Iowa have apprehended a suspect wanted for a variety of illegal activities.

The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office says 25-year-old Brandon Kimber of Cresco was located and arrested in Fayette County late Thursday morning. He is now in the Winneshiek County Jail in Decorah on warrants for violation of parole, violation of probation, third-degree burglary of a motor vehicle – second or subsequent offense, and possession of burglar’s tools.

The Sheriff’s Office and Decorah Police Department ramped up their efforts to find Kimber by issuing Facebook posts on Thursday, February 29, asking for the public’s help in tracking down Kimber. The Howard County Sheriff’s Office followed with their own Facebook post that they were also looking for Kimber on a second-degree theft charge.

Law enforcement said Kimber was seen Wednesday in southern Winneshiek County driving a red 2016 Ford Focus, which was stolen and used in the commission of crimes. He’s now in custody.

Court records show Kimber has a lengthy list of criminal convictions, including OWI, assault, second- and third-degree theft, third-degree burglary, drug possession and twice for operating a vehicle without owner’s consent in Winneshiek County.

Kimber has also been convicted twice on second-degree burglary charges in Allamakee County, plus operating a vehicle without owner’s consent and two counts of third-degree motor vehicle burglary in Howard County.

All convictions have come between 2018 and 2023.

The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office says Kimber remains under investigation with additional charges pending.
