State Law Enforcement Fundraiser Helps Kids, Local Sheriffs, Deputies

Although they are not directly involved, the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office wants citizens to know that a state-sponsored fundraising campaign by the Iowa State Sheriffs’ and Deputies’ Association (ISSDA) is legitimate.

Many Chickasaw County residents have received a donation mailer from the ISSDA with Sheriff Ryan Shawver’s name on it. Shawver says his department is not involved, but the ISSDA sends out a blanket letter on behalf of all county Sheriffs in Iowa.

Shawver adds that his department is a part of ISSDA and does benefit indirectly from donations in the form of law updates and continued staff training.

The ISSDA also gives back to Iowa kids.

Shawver says he will not send out a mass mailing to residents seeking donations, but if support is ever needed for a project to be funded without tax dollars, he will ask for donations in a public setting.
