New Hampton Schools Out Early Wednesday (05.01) for Active Shooter Drill

New Hampton Schools will have an early dismissal Wednesday (05.01), with Middle School/High School students dismissing at 1 pm and elementary dismissing at 1:10 pm.  The school District will be working with local agencies to conduct an Active Shooter Drill.  All students are asked to be out of the building right after dismissal.

This will not impact Little Sprouts Daycare.

Entitites participating in the exercise focusing on a school shooting scenario include Chickasaw County Public Health, Chickasaw County Emergency Management Agency, Chickasaw County EMS, Chickasaw County Rescue Squad, Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office-Iowa, New Hampton Fire Department, New Hampton Community Schools, MercyOne New Hampton Medical Center, etc. 

Officials say they plan to use what they learn and practice to bring to all the schools in Chickasaw County.  Trainings like this one will help them to be better prepared in actual emergencies.
