Northeast Research Farm Field Day Wednesday (06.19) in Nashua
The spring field day at Iowa State University’s Northeast Research and Demonstration Farm near Nashua is Wednesday (06.19) from 11 am to 3 pm.
Madelynn Wuestenberg, agricultural climatology extension specialist, will provide insights on crop weather and trends for the 2024 growing season. Rick Cruse, professor and director of the Iowa Water Center, will discuss implications of soil erosion on Iowa’s landscape and current practices used to help minimize its impact. Richard Roth, extension nitrogen education specialist, will provide his insight on nitrogen management in a wet spring.
Leslie Milius, program with the Floyd County office of ISU Extension and Outreach, says there will also be a new feature for attendees Wednesday.
Milius adds that the Field Day also offers helpful info for gardeners. It is free and open to the public and starts at the Borlaug Learning Center Headquarters on the Northeast Research and Demonstration Farm, just west of Nashua.

Field day will focus on nitrogen management, soil erosion and weather trends

NASHUA, Iowa – The spring field day at Iowa State University’s Northeast Research and Demonstration Farm will be held June 19, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Madelynn Wuestenberg, agricultural climatology extension specialist, will begin the program by providing her insights on crop weather and trends for the 2024 growing season. Rick Cruse, professor and director of the Iowa Water Center, will discuss the implications of soil erosion on Iowa’s landscape and current practices used to help minimize its impact.
Richard Roth, extension nitrogen education specialist, will provide his insight on nitrogen management in a wet spring.
A complimentary meal will be served at noon, sponsored by Pioneer Hi Bred International.
The field day is free and open to the public. It starts at the Borlaug Learning Center Headquarters on the Northeast Research and Demonstration Farm.
