CRP Acreage Still Available for 2027 Sign-up

Even though the Conservation Reserve Program is almost at its 27-million-acre cap, farmers can still enroll for next year. USDA Undersecretary Richard Fordyce noted that there is still room left for more sign-ups.

CRP gives farmers a dependable source of income while helping the environment by cutting down soil erosion, cleaning up waterways, and creating better habitats for wildlife. Fordyce advises landowners not to assume all the spots are taken and to check into signing up for next year.

Over two million acres were added to CRP this year through general, continuous, and grassland enrollment. The USDA also reported that it will pay out around $1.8 billion in 2026 rental payments to cover both standard CRP and Grassland land. The top five states for 2026 CRP payments are Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, South Dakota, and Missouri.
