Certified Angus Beef Sales Remain Strong Despite Tight Supply

Certified Angus Beef wrapped up its 48th year with over 1.2 billion pounds sold globally—a major testament to the high-quality cattle coming off nationwide farms and ranches.

Despite national herd cutbacks and tight cattle supplies, high demand for premium beef kept Iowa producers creating top-tier value. While total sales dipped just under 1%, high-end Certified Angus Beef Prime surged over 12% to a record 63.3 million pounds.

Nationally, qualified cattle numbers dropped 6%, but the acceptance rate climbed to nearly 38%—driven by the genetics and care Iowa cattle raisers bring to the market. Foodservice sales rose almost 2%, proving that even with elevated prices, consumers and restaurants still depend on the consistent quality Iowa beef producers deliver every day.
