Deadline Wednesday for Volunteer CCCSD Super Search Interviewees

Wednesday (05.01) is the deadline for community members to volunteer to help with interviews of the three finalists for the next superintendent of the Charles City School District.

According to the school website, they are looking for dedicated community members to participate and provide insights and perspectives that are invaluable in this crucial decision-making process. Volunteers will engage with candidates, provide feedback, and play an integral role in shaping the future of our school district.

Those interested in applying should contact Lisa Miller at Charles City Schools by May 1st.

Last week, the school announced the three finalists for superintendent post, Steven Barber, currently Superintendent for the Grinnell-Newburg School District; Gary Benda of Hills, who served as shared Superintendent for Starmont and West Central schools for two years;  and Brian Burnight, who was Director of Elementary Education in Sioux City Community School District until 2023.

Interviews are scheduled for noon to 4:30 pm on Monday, May 6, and numerous stakeholder groups will meet with the candidates and submit their input to the School Board, with plans to make a decision by Tuesday, May 7.
