New Hampton Schools Push Signup for Free Summer Meals
The push is on to get New Hampton children eligible for free or reduced summer meals.
School district Director of Food Service Jodi Cerwinske says they need to get at least 50% of the kids in the New Hampton school district who are eligible registered for the program, which would allow New Hampton to offer the Summer Meals through the Department of Education. As recently as Tuesday (05.14), at least 11 more kids were needed to sign up to get New Hampton qualified.
Cerwinske says there are over 600 individual students in the school district who can still apply. For example, a family of four can make up to $55,500 and qualify for reduced meals for children ages one to 18.
Cerwinske says the final deadline to sign up is Monday, May 20. Applications for free or reduced meals can be mailed in, but they must be received at the school by this Monday and not just postmarked by May 20th.Â
Contact Cerwinske with any questions or for more information on applying.
If New Hampton public schools can get to the 50% threshold, any child in the community, no matter where they attend school, can come to the New Hampton Elementary School this summer for free meals.Â
