TLC Closes GAP to Make Move Into Former Charles City Middle School

Relocating The Learning Center (TLC) child care center into the 1970’s section of the former Charles City middle school building now has the final piece of its financial puzzle in place.

In November, TLC distributed a letter to the community explaining how supply chain delays, product accessibility, increased costs and other factors combined to produce a funding GAP of $275,000.

TLC Board President Lisa Garden says that GAP has been filled.

With the funding secured, TLC Director Pam Ost says they are targeting the last week of December to make the final move of materials, equipment and supplies from their current location in the former Fareway grocery store to North Grand Avenue.

She says that will make it possible for TLC to have the kids in the new location starting in the first week in January. With the change, TLC will increase from providing child care for 86 children to 179 kids.
