Jobless Rates Down for Most North, Northeast Iowa Counties January to February

Unemployment was down for most area north and northeast Iowa counties from January to February.

According to Iowa Workforce Development, the jobless rate fell from 3.2% in February to 3.1% in January in Chickasaw County, while unemployment rose in Floyd County from 3.8% to 4.1% for the same period.

The jobless rates also fell from January to February in Butler, Franklin, Cerro Gordo, Fayette, and Howard counties. Winneshiek County saw the biggest decline in unemployment, going from 5.7% in January down to 4.6% in February.

Worth and Mitchell counties also saw jobless rates tick up, with Mitchell County seeing the largest increase for the area, from 2.4% in January to 2.9% in February.

The state unemployment rate as a whole was down slightly from 3% in January to 2.9% in February.
