Osage Man Charged with Murder Gets Hearing on Validity of Search Warrants

An Osage man, accused of killing a woman over two years ago, has been granted a hearing to challenge the search warrants used to gather evidence against him.

24-year-old Nathan Gilmore is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 29-year-old Angela Bradbury, a Cerro Gordo County woman last seen alive April 6, 2021. Her remains were found in rural Mitchell County later that summer and were confirmed to be Bradbury’s in February of 2022.

Gilmore has pleaded not guilty and, after he was granted a change of venue, his trial has been moved to Bremer County District Court, scheduled to begin October 16th.

Last week, defense counsel filed a motion requesting a “Frank’s Hearing” to determine whether investigators were purposefully untruthful with regard to a material fact in the application for warrants, or acted with reckless disregard for the truth. The defense calls into question the accuracy and/or omission of certain information used to obtain search warrants for Gilmore’s social media accounts, whether certain evidence was tested for DNA, and if other persons of interest in the case were fully investigated.

Friday, the defense’s request was granted and a hearing was set for August 23rd in Mitchell County District Court, which replaces the evidence suppression hearing that was scheduled for August 7th.

Gilmore remains in the Mitchell County Jail in Osage, held on a $1 million bond.
