Open House Monday to Showcase New Wraparound Childcare Program in New Hampton

Remodeling what was a weight room inside New Hampton Elementary, to create space for a new before and after school wraparound childcare program, will be showcased during an Open House Monday (08.21).

New Hampton Schools Superintendent Jay Jurrens says the program, in cooperation with Little Sprouts Children’s Center, is ready to start in conjunction with the new school year on Wednesday (08.23).

JBrian Carolan with the Little Sprouts Board of Directors says that space will accommodate 55 kids, with all spots filled and a waiting list of about 10 children.

The creation of the wraparound childcare program also allows more space for infants and toddlers, now totaling 68, at Little Sprout’s main center at United Methodist Church. Carolan says they’ve come a long way in a short time.

Carolan also thanks the school district, church and New Hampton community for looking to the future to meet the growing child care needs.

Little Sprouts will host an Open House for the new before and after school program from 3 to 6 pm this Monday, which also coincides with the back-to-school Open House from 4 to 6 pm at New Hampton Elementary.
