An online predator sting operation that led to charges last fall against a former northeast Iowa teacher recently resulted in the arrest of a college professor.
Manchester Police (MPD) says Operation Castle, which involves an undercover (UC) officer posing online as an underage minor, led to Saturday’s (02.14) arrest of 49-year-old Nathan Hough of Dubuque.
MPD says Hough traveled to Manchester to conduct sex acts with an undercover officer portraying a minor. Hough, a professor at the University of Dubuque, allegedly sent explicit photos to the undercover officer, requested the minor to urinate on him, suggested other heinous acts, and brought sex materials to the meetup as well.
Hough has been charged with grooming, a Class D felony, and dissemination of obscene material to a minor, a serious misdemeanor.
His apprehension brings Manchester Police to a total of 14 men arrested on similar charges since last September, which includes 32-year-old Alex LaFrenz of New Hampton, who was among four men taken into custody in November.
At the time, LaFrenz was music instructor in the Turkey Valley School District. He has since resigned that position and faces trial July 15th in Delaware County District Court on charges of enticing a minor under 16 for sexual purpose, a Class D felony, and exhibition of obscene material to a minor.
