The future of the historic Wildwood Golf Course clubhouse will be the focus of two upcoming public open houses in Charles City.

KCHA’s Chris Berg & Kay Winkelman talks with Charles City Park and Recreation Director Tyler Mitchell about the nearly 100-year-old clubhouse, its history and current structural concerns, along with options ranging from renovating the existing building to constructing a new clubhouse. Mitchell also discusses the potential costs of each option, possible golf simulators and year-round uses, preserving the character and history of Wildwood, and why public feedback will play a major role in determining what happens next.

The Charles City Park and Recreation Department and Park and Recreation Board will host open houses at Wildwood Golf Course on Wednesday, October 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, October 17, from 8 to 11 a.m. Visitors will be able to tour the existing clubhouse, learn about the proposed renovation and new construction options, ask questions and complete a survey sharing what they would like to see for the future of the facility.

Those unable to attend either open house can contact Mitchell through the Charles City Park and Recreation Department to provide feedback. Additional information is available through the City of Charles City website and Facebook page.
