...The National Weather Service in La Crosse WI has issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in Iowa... Turkey River at Spillville affecting Winneshiek County. Turkey River at Elkader affecting Clayton County. .A strong low pressure system will lift through Minnesota this afternoon bringing additional precipitation amounts of 1 to 2 inches. This river basin has already seen 1.5 to 3 inches of precipitation and the river has begun to rise rapidly at Spillville. With additional precipitation expected and the river already responding, will issue a flood warning for Spillville and Elkader at this time. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Turkey River at Spillville. * WHEN...From this evening to tomorrow evening. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 10:30 AM CDT Tuesday the stage was 4.9 feet. - Bankfull stage is 8.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage this evening to a crest of 10.9 feet tomorrow morning. It will then fall below flood stage tomorrow afternoon. - Flood stage is 9.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 10.9 feet on 04/29/1991. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Information: Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. * WHAT...Flash Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...Portions of Iowa, including the following counties, Allamakee, Chickasaw, Clayton, Fayette, Floyd, Howard, Mitchell and Winneshiek and southeast Minnesota, including the following counties, Dodge, Fillmore, Houston, Mower, Olmsted, Wabasha and Winona. * WHEN...Through this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms will continue today. Some heavy rainfall has already occurred over parts of Dodge and Mower counties in southeast Minnesota near a stationary boundary. Additional rainfall, some heavy is forecast to occur with storms this morning as deeper moisture and a storm system approaches the area. More rain overspreads the area again this afternoon as the storm system moves through.
