North Iowa Hardware Store Marks 100 Years in Business

The longevity of a north Iowa hardware store is being observed this week with food and fun.

2022 marks the 100th year in business for Ace Schueth Hardware in New Hampton, which also opened a store in Charles City in 2005. The stores are now owned by the third generation of the Schueth family in Doug Schueth and Jackie Perkins.

Schueth says customers in both communities have themselves become like family.

As a show of appreciation for their customers, the store hosted a lunch Wednesday in New Hampton with free will donations going to the New Hampton Food Pantry. Another lunch will be served in Charles City Thursday (06.090 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with any monetary donations going to the Messiah Food Pantry.

In another recognition of their 100th anniversary, the Schueths have been selected as Grand Marshals for the Heartland Days parade in New Hampton this Friday night.

After this busy week is over, Perkins says that maybe on Monday she’ll start thinking about the stores’ next 100 years.
