A New Hampton man missing for almost a month is scheduled to stand trial in January on drugs and weapons charges.

The New Hampton Police Department says 30-year-old Jonathan Esparza was last seen leaving his residence in New Hampton to visit a friend’s house in Elma on the evening of October 20th. Friday, an NHPD Facebook update indicated that Esparza’s vehicle had been located, but he is still considered missing.

Esparza is described as a white male, approximately 6’02”, weighing 200 lbs with black hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Esparza are asked to call the New Hampton Police Department at 641-394-3241.

According to court records, Esparza is scheduled to stand trial January 25th in Chickasaw County District Court on charges from a July 22nd arrest that include possession of a short-barreled rifle or shotgun, a Class D felony; plus being a person ineligible to carry dangerous weapons, possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana, all aggravated misdemeanors.

Court documents show that the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office also arrested Esparza on June 26th for being a person ineligible to carry dangerous weapons and drug possession.
