U.S. Highways 63, 218, 9 Road/Bridge Projects Nearing Completion, Weather Permitting

The bridge deck replacement project on Highway 63 over the Wapsipinicon River, just north of New Hampton, is expected to be complete within the next few weeks, according to Pete Hjelmstad with the Iowa DOT in Mason City.

A couple of weeks after that, Helmstad says the Highway 9 paving project in Decorah should be finished.

Meanwhile, Helmstad says construction of the new Highway 218 bypass between Waverly and Janesville is on schedule despite playing some catch up from a wet September.

Hjelmstad adds that progress on all road and bridge construction projects is always subject to Mother Nature’s cooperation.

Hjelmstad also notes that bridge work on Highway 18 between West Union and Fredericksburg is expected to be finished by next Wednesday (Oct. 21) and construction on Highway 9 between Riceville and Elma should be completed by next Friday (Oct. 16).
