North Iowa Woman Claims $2 Million Powerball Prize

About a month after learning she first won, a north Iowa woman has claimed  a $2 million Powerball® prize.

The Iowa Lottery says Tamara Sheehan of Forest City purchased her $2 million-winning ticket at Casey’s on Highway 69 South in Forest City. Her easy-pick ticket came within one number of winning the game’s $403.9 million jackpot in the October 10th drawing.

Before stepping forward for her big prize, Sheehan said that she and her husband, Stephen, spent the time getting lots of questions answered, specifically on the financials and the taxes.

As they laid low, Sheehan said it was fun hearing the buzz around Forest City, “It was a big buzz – a BIG buzz. It’s a small town, so it was really something fun for everyone to talk about.”

She added that the winning started feeling really real driving up to the front of Iowa Lottery headquarters in Clive.

Casey’s received a $2,000 bonus from the Iowa Lottery for selling the $2 million-winning ticket.
