New Chickasaw County Ambulance Begins Operation This Weekend

Months in the formation, the new public ambulance service operated by the new Chickasaw County EMS department will begin operation this weekend.

That’s EMS Director Joel Knutson, who says bringing the ambulance service together took a lot of work from a lot of people and entities.

Knutson also commends Lifeline Emergency Vehicles of Sumner for making a quick turnaround in getting the County’s new primary ambulance ready for launch. He says they’ll employ a used loaner for their second rig until their second new ambulance is ready for service.

Forming the County-run ambulance began in earnest in June when the Board of Supervisors received word that the County’s current private provider, Jeremy McGrath and Chickasaw Ambulance, had no interest in extending his contract with the County after it expires December 31st. McGrath’s contract was set to expire June 30th before he agreed to a six-month extension to serve the County until the end of the year.
