Floyd County Conservation Continues Timber Harvest in Wetland Woods

With dry conditions and temperatures near 40 forecasted for north Iowa this weekend (1.13-1.15), you may be looking to spend some time in nature, like Wetland Woods, about eight miles northwest of Charles City.

Floyd County Conservation Naturalist Heidi Reams says Wetland Woods is open, but natural resource managers are continuing with their timber harvest.

Reams says the winter months are advantageous to conducting the timber harvest.

Reams says upcoming events include a presentation at 2 pm Saturday (01.14)at the Fossil and Prairie Center west of Rockford. DNR conservation officer and New Hampton native, Erika Billerbeck, will discuss her latest book, Wildlands Sentinel.

Reams adds that they’ll also host Cabin Fever Weekend events at the end of January. Find more information on the Floyd County Conservation Facebook page.
