Floyd County CERT Training This Weekend

The Floyd County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), is looking to add to its roster of people available to help respond to a disaster or the imminent threat of disaster.

Gloria Troge is the secretary and a founding member of CERT, which operates under the authority of Floyd County Emergency Management.

She says those who become CERT members will learn from some of the best trainers in the state.

Once trained and certified, Troge says you’ll get a basic kit to be ready to respond in a disaster situation.

Even if you don’t help in the field, Troge says you can also take advantage of CERT training for personal use if you’re just interested in providing better safety for your family during or in advance of a disaster.

The next CERT training session is scheduled for this Saturday, February 18, and Sunday, February 19, in the EOC Room of the Floyd County Law Enforcement Center. You must fill out an application form and pass a background check to be accepted.
