North Butler School District to Host Bond Referendum Informational Meetings

For the second time in a year-and-a-half, residents in the North Butler School District will vote on a bond referendum that would pay for upgrades and improvements at school buildings in Allison and Greene.

The previous bond referendum, at just over $19 million, was soundly defeated in September of 2021, with three-quarters of the ballots being NO votes. Superintendent Mark Olmstead says they’ve trimmed the latest bond referendum up for vote March 7th by almost $7 million.

Olmstead says he hopes the basic needs the district wants to address with the latest bond resonate with voters.

To help educate voters on the latest bond referendum, the school district will host informational community meetings from 6:30 to 7:30 pm at the elementary school in Allison Monday (02.27) night and at the high school in Greene Tuesday (02.28) night.

Olmstead says he’s also willing to personally meet with anyone who has questions about the bond referendum, which must receive at least 60% majority YES votes to pass.
