Search Continues for Next New Hampton Police Chief

The search for the next New Hampton Police Chief has been extended.

The City is looking for a successor to Zach Nosbisch, who left the NHPD after four-and-a-half years at the helm. Monday (03.06), he started his new job at Chief Deputy with the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office, where he worked previously from 2013 until he became New Hampton Police Chief in the fall of 2018.

The City’s initial deadline for police chief applications was February 24th and resulted in six applications and interviews with five of the candidates. However, no hire has yet been made and a new application deadline has been set for Friday, March 24, at 5 pm.

The City’s advertisement for the position indicates a starting chief salary of $69,500 a year, with an increase to $75,700 a year starting July 1st, which coincides with the start of the 2023-24 fiscal year.

A complete job description and application form are available on www.newhamptonia.com

Until a permanent replacement is named, Sergeant Paul Scally will serve as interim Police Chief. Scally has been in law enforcement since 2001 and has been with the NHPD since 2009.
