Company Building Wind Turbines in Chickasaw County Hosts Public Meeting Thursday in New Hampton

The company erecting 66 wind turbines as part of the Chickasaw County Wind Energy Center will host a public meeting Thursday night (03.23) in New Hampton to answer questions related to the project.

Dan Litchfield is the Vice-President of Renewable Development for Invenergy, the project’s parent company. He says they are targeting late May for construction to begin, which comes after the turbines were originally proposed in 2016.

While it’s taken longer than anticipated for the actual construction, Litchfield says farmers and landowners realized early in the process that there was economic gain for themselves from the wind turbines.

Representatives from Invenergy will host a dinner for landowners involved in the project Thursday evening (03.23) at The Pub at the Pinicon in New Hampton. That will be followed by a public question and answer meeting at 7:30 pm at the Chickasaw Event Center in New Hampton.

Construction of the turbines, plus the underground collection lines to connect turbine-to-turbine, is expected to be completed by this December.
