Charles City Housing Task Force Meets with Landlords

A housing taskforce is working to increase the availability of rental properties in Charles City.

During a meeting Thursday (03.30) night with landlords who rent out properties in the City, Emily Garden with the task force said the public has been asking for more places to rent.

Garden added that a study by the Charles City Area Development Corporation indicates the demand for more rental units.

Garden also noted the need for more housing now and in the future.

Charles City Police Chief Hugh Anderson also addressed landlords about updates in City codes. He says that while the City is stepping up the level of inspections of rental properties, officials are also ready to work with the landlords to make sure they’re in compliance with regulations that protect them and their tenants.
