New Hampton Hires New Police Chief

The new Chief of Police for the City of New Hampton will take over in about two weeks.

The City Council has approved the hiring of Tim Pederson to succeed Zach Nosbisch, who left the NHPD in early March to become Chief Deputy with the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office. Nosbisch had been New Hampton Police Chief since the fall of 2018.

Mayor Bobby Schwickerath says Pederson comes to northeast Iowa after a law enforcement career in southwest Iowa.

Schwickerath commends the work of Sergeant Paul Scally, who has served as interim police chief since the departure of Nosbisch.

Schwickerath says Pederson will start April 19th and will relocate his family to New Hampton at the end of the school year.
